Rev 2:18-29 (NIV)

  • Thyatira, 40 Miles from Pergamos. Foremost center of trade in Asia.
  • City where Trade unions begun, Full of Pagan activities at Union pagan feasts. Smallest of the seven cities yet the Longest letter of all!
  • Thyatira from the religious point of view was that it possessed a fortune-telling shrine, presided over by a female oracle called the Sambathe.

18 "To the angel of the church in Thyatira write: (Thyatira = odor of affliction, Acts 16:12-15) These are the words of the Son of God, whose eyes are like blazing fire and whose feet are like burnished bronze. (Rev. 1:14-15, Rom. 11:9-10, Mat. 6:22-23, Luke 11:34-36, Isa. 63:1-4)

19 I know your deeds, your love and faith, your service and perseverance, and that you are now doing more than you did at first. (Rom. 5:3-5, James 1:2-4, 2Peter 1:5-8)

20 Nevertheless, I have this against you: You tolerate that woman Jezebel,        (Un-chaste, Baal is Husband to or Baal Exalts) who calls herself a prophetess. By her teaching she misleads my servants into sexual immorality and the eating of food sacrificed to idols. (874-853 BC,  1 Kings 21:1-14, 2 Kings 9:30-37, Micah. 6:9-16, Exo. 15:20-21, Luke 2:36-37, Acts 21:8-9,1Kings 16:30-33, 1Kings 21:25-26, 1Kings 18:18-19, 1Kings 18:4, 2 Cor. 11:1-4, Mat. 24:24, Luke 6:26, 2Peter 2:1-3, 1John 4:1-4)

21 I have given her time to repent of her immorality, but she is unwilling. (Rom. 2:4-10, Dan. 4:24-27, 28-33)

22 So I will cast her on a bed of suffering, and I will make those who commit adultery with her suffer intensely, unless they repent of her ways. (Gal 6:7-8)

23 I will strike her children dead. Then all the churches will know that I am he who searches hearts and minds, and I will repay each of you according to your deeds. (Whose eyes are like blazing fire, Heb. 4:12-13)

24 Now I say to the rest of you in Thyatira, to you who do not hold to her teaching and have not learned Satan's so-called deep secrets (I will not impose any other burden on you): (1Cor. 2:9-11, 2Thes. 2:9-12, 2Cor. 17:13-15)

25 Only hold on to what you have until I come.

26 To him who overcomes and does my will to the end, I will give authority over the nations

27 'He will rule them with an iron scepter; he will dash them to pieces like pottery'--  just as I have received authority from my Father. (Psa. 2:7-12)

28 I will also give him the morning star. (Rev. 22:16)

29 He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.
