Rev 3:1-6 (NIV)

·        Sardis: twice the City was conquered at night!

·        Cyrus the Persian scaled the 1500-foot rock face and found the city walls unguarded!

·        200 years latter Antiochus, one of Alexander’s Generals would take the city by climbing the Rock face, again finding it unguarded!

  Rev 3:1-6 (NIV)

1 "To the angel of the church in Sardis write: These are the words of him who holds the seven spirits of God and the seven stars. I know your deeds; you have a reputation of being alive, but you are dead. (Rev. 4:5, Rev. 8:2)

2 Wake up! Strengthen what remains and is about to die, for I have not found your deeds complete in the sight of my God. (Matt 25:32-46, Matt 12:46-50, Eph 2:8-10, Matt 5:16,  Col 1:9-12)

3 Remember, therefore, what you have received and heard; obey it, and repent. But if you do not wake up, I will come like a thief, and you will not know at what time I will come to you. (Rev. 2:5, Heb. 2:1, Gen 11:6-8,  Gen 18:20-21  Luke 17:26-30, 2 Tim. 1:13-14, 1Tim 6:20-21, 2Pet. 3:9-14, Mat 24:42-44)

4 Yet you have a few people in Sardis who have not soiled their clothes. They will walk with me, dressed in white, for they are worthy. (Gen. 5:24, Rev 19:8)

5 He who overcomes will, like them, be dressed in white. I will never blot out his name from the book of life, but will acknowledge his name before my Father and his angels. (1John 5:4-5, Psa. 69:18-28, Exo. 32:32-33, Rev. 13:8, Rev. 21:23-27, Rev. 20:12-15, Rev. 17:8, Psalms 51:1-13,  Phil. 4:3, Luke 10:17-20)

6 He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. (Rom. 13:11)
